Leaders, we’ve been quiet for good reason.
Under the scene’s we’ve been shaping an exciting update to the Human Cloud.
Today we announce Freelance Focus, the freelance economy’s Hometown Paper, brought to you by Jon Younger, Eryn Peters, and Matthew Mottola.
Why Freelance Focus (rather than the Human Cloud newsletter)
1: We Need To Connect Our Industry
It’s kind of nuts…we’re a $5.4t industry, with over 100m global freelancers and soon to be over half the US workforce. Every fifth commercial in the US is Upwork or Fiverr. Both public companies. And over 90% of companies are prioritizing freelancers, with 60% of companies planning to substantially replace employees with freelancers.
Yet where do we turn for events, updates, etc? There are phenomenal industry wide organizations we already turn to like Open Assembly, the Association For The Future of Work, and Staffing Industry Analysts. But as you’ll see in point 2, what is literally just for the freelance economy?
2: We Can Finally Just Say Freelance
Below are two of my favorite slides to present.
It’s been a whirlwind 10 years with terms…but finally, we can just say freelance and it’s good enough. No more gig (god that was a terrible time). No more corporate jargon like liquid workforce.
Just freelance, and that’s more than okay.
3. It’s About Amplifying You
It’s taken a village to get to where we are today. It’ll take a global network to get to where we’ll be tomorrow.
Which is why we’re beyond ecstatic to include your voice, your updates, and the great work you’re doing.
We obviously can’t promise every single update. But increasingly we’ll include your in insights alongside the podcast, leader portals, and our long form insights.
See You Next Week :)
Alright y’all, that’s it.
See you next week with the updated newsletter :)
