Cuban people - we hear you and stand with you. One of my favorite parts about living in Miami is the Cuban influence. You are some of the hardest working people I’ve met and deserve freedom. Below are some photo’s from this weekend in Miami. To my Cuban friends, we hear you, support you, and please respond if there are ways we can help.
The PRO Act is far from over as Democrats are sneaking it into the $3.5 trillion reconciliation plan. I really don’t want this newsletter to become political, but there seems to be one party hell bent on eliminating access and opportunity to owning a freelance business. Whether a marketer choosing to stay a one person business, or a small businesses choosing to hire that freelance marketer, the Democrat backed PRO Act is a far-reaching legislation threatening to eliminate American self employment.
*To understand why the current party wants this, reply directly to this mail. Hint…it has to do with tax $$$$.
Time Be The Change Maker
Okay Leaders - ready to rocket ship? 🚀
Maybe you have your first budget. Or your first round of investment. Or your first glimpse of product-market-fit.
How do you capitalize on this opportunity without burning out? 📈
—————
Short Answer: Freelancers. Hire freelancers.
Long Answer: Deeper than this one opportunity, the freelancers you hire for this opportunity will be your ticket to growth for the next 50 years.
The leadership paradigm has flipped. Traditional ‘headcount’ has been replaced by the elastic network of freelancers you collaborate with.
Instead of competing for talent against Google you have a third option - the talent themselves. You don’t need to compete with perks. You can find equal if not better quality people by highlighting the work itself. Also insider secret…most talent at FAANG (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) freelance on the side. They’ll do their mind numbing day job tasks from 11-2 then keep their creativity for you.

How do you start hiring a freelancer?
Step 1: Get out a napkin. List the first 10 burning outcomes that come to mind. I’m willing to bet some below outcomes come to mind:
Article(s)
SEO
Presentation Design
Growth Marketing Tools
Step 2: Prioritize the top 5.
Step 3: Pick the least risky from step 2.
Step 4: Hire.
Advice: Skip the interview. Instead, have the freelancer show you an exact example of them doing this prior. Use this as a comparable. Then ask the freelancer to provide a fixed project cost (they should do this anyways). Below is a great example of how Lauren Detweiler packages her outcomes for you.
Step 5: Repeat, increasingly taking on riskier outcomes.
Most likely you’ll find the 10x freelancers you love. Treat them right. They will be your secret to success for the next 50 years.
